An anonymous individual recently donated $100,000 to Glendale Community College. While the donor requested that their name not be made public, they did specify that the funds are to be used to support Gaucho Athletics, specifically repairs and improvements to athletic facilities.
“We are thrilled to receive this generous gift. It comes from a first-time donor, and the exciting part is that they came to us because they know how important our sports programs are for the development of student-athletes.” Stated Travis Rutt, Director of Development at GCC.
GCC president, Tiffany Hernandez commented, "GCC is extremely grateful for this generous donation. These funds will allow us to better serve our student-athletes who are richly deserving of excellence both on and off the field, court, and track".
The development team will work with Athletics and the facilities department to determine the priority of needs and allocate the funds accordingly.
“This comes at a great time for our sports programs. GCC's facilities crew does a wonderful job in keeping the fields, courts, and gym in great shape, however, there are some improvements that are long overdue. In many ways, this is a recognition for all of the hard work, on and off the field, exhibited by the student-athletes." Stated Peter Oliszczak, GCC Athletics Director.
GCC Gaucho Athletics has 14 teams, a spirit line and an Esports team. GCC student-athletes consistently earn top academic awards, along with their numerous titles and championships.
