The Glendale Community College (GCC) Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic Programs, part of the Public Safety Sciences (PSS) program, have been awarded the GMR FRE/Laerdal Equipment Grant Award in the amount of $15,000. These grant funds will support the purchase of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) equipment. This critical equipment will enhance the training of emergency response personnel and ensure that frontline medical responders have the training they need to save lives.
The GMR Foundation for Research and Education has been a partner with GCC since 2019 and has awarded the PSS program over $80,000 in student scholarships. This specific grant is in collaboration with Laerdal, a multinational company that develops products and programs for healthcare providers, volunteer organizations, educational institutions, hospitals, and the military, across the globe. The awarded funds are designated specifically for the acquisition of essential EMS simulation mannequins and supplies.
The GCC Public Safety Science program trains EMS professionals to serve a vital role in our communities, often being the first to respond in times of crisis. Whether responding to accidents, medical emergencies, or natural disasters, their swift and skilled actions make a significant difference in patient outcomes. The ability of these professionals to perform their duties safely and effectively is directly tied to the quality and availability of their training and equipment. With this grant award, it solidifies GCC’s continued commitment in providing the most rigorous EMS training programs in the West Valley.
“We extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the GMR Foundation for Research and Education Board members and Laerdal for being selected to receive this award. We look forward to seeing the impact of this funding in the months and years to come and remain committed to supporting those who serve on the front lines of emergency care”. Stated Rainier Perez, EMS Program Director at Glendale Community College.
