Female teacher reading to students

In support of the Bachelor of Arts Elementary Education and Special Education program (BAEE) at Glendale Community College (GCC), the Salt River Project (SRP) Agua Fria Generating Station has made a generous donation to the program.

The considerable donation represents SRP’s support of education in Arizona and the need for scholarship funds for those wanting to enter the education workforce. The donation will assist GCC in addressing the teacher shortage in Arizona. GCC’s BAEE program educates and trains elementary and special education instructors, which are two of Arizona’s most high-need teaching fields.

SRP’s donation provides financial assistance for future educators, including first-generation and working students. These funds will help students balance academics with their personal and professional needs. The SRP donation also highlights the importance of investing in the future of children throughout Arizona.

GCC celebrated the graduation of its first BAEE cohort in May of 2025. Each graduate had received job offers and accepted teaching positions upon graduation. The need for elementary education teachers in Arizona is acute, and the GCC BAEE program is addressing that need. GCC’s BAEE program is an affordable path to an accredited, high-quality teaching degree.
