College Administration Perspectives on Academic Reorganization at GCC
President
Dr. Tiffany Hernandez
I fully support the ongoing work to explore academic reorganization at GCC. This initiative, led by our faculty, aligns with our strategic plan and positions us to better meet the evolving needs of our students and community. With changes in the budget model and a continued focus on innovation, reexamining our academic structure is both timely and essential. I believe this process can unlock new opportunities for collaboration, program growth, and long-term success. I'm excited to see where this important work leads.
Vice President of Academic Affairs
Dr. Lorelei Konopka
Our college has experienced immense change over the past decade-shifts in enrollment, leadership, and student needs—yet our academic structures have remained largely the same. Now, with greater stability and a fully implemented Shared Governance model, we have a timely opportunity to reflect on who we are and what we could become.
Reorganization is not just about change—it's about being intentional, collaborative, and future-focused. With a clear vision and shared understanding of why this work matters, we can build an Academic Affairs structure that supports innovation and institutional capacity to serve the evolving needs of our students in a rapidly shifting workforce. This effort aligns with our strategic plan, Elevate 2028, and lays the foundation for an Academic Plan that will guide growth and improve outcomes for years to come. We cannot expect different results by continuing the same approach. It's time to reimagine what's possible at GCC.
